Silk Center building, designed by the Japanese modernist architect, Junzo Sakakura, who studied under Le Corbusier. Yamashita-cho, Yokohama.

Junzo Sakakura (坂倉 準三 Sakakura Junzō, 1901–1969) was a Japanese architect and former president of the Architectural Association of Japan. After graduating from university he worked in Le Corbusier's atelier in Paris. He rose to the position of studio chief during his seven-year stay in the studio He formed his own practice on his return to Japan becoming an important member of the modernist movement. 坂倉準三は近代建築の最前線にいた建築家。この時代の建築を見ると、コンクリートであっても手の痕跡が残っているのが分かりますね。そこには職人の作る姿が浮かび上がっているようです。こういう建築は古くても、いや古いからこそ見ていて、ワクワクします。
